易地而處  

 

易地,不是這裡(here),也不在那裡(there)。易地在他方(elsewhere),是與這裡和那裡永遠保持著雙向、動態關係的第三處。

 

兩位年輕藝術家於覓空間、臻品藝術中心,以設定提出「一件作品」的展覽形式為起點,所開啟的長時間對話討論、交換意見、衝突對立,共同搭建(或者說是虛構)了一處作品指向的第三方,是易地而處的第一層意義。而透過曾經深刻存在於他方的真實之物-雷達海圖、結晶海鹽、老舊鐵窗、燈管等-就地組裝成為一件作品,一方面逼顯其作為現實,並且極具生活感知的面向;另一方面,那標誌移動的路徑、結晶晶體的生成、時間的鏽蝕與棄守,如今成為此時此地坐落於展場內的此處,是易地而處的第二層意義。

 

在這裡,或許已經不再說一或者二元。因為二從來都不代表斷然二分,一也未曾排拒多種表達的可能性。那麼三呢?三或許就是某種挪移於其間的回應空間吧!那是對此處、彼處-多個世界-的接納與擴大,雷達海圖、結晶海鹽、老舊鐵窗、燈管等夾帶著關於他方的盈滿肯證而來,足以重啟我們對於「日常」與「理所當然」的此處所有事物,以及對於現實界線的嶄新向度。(文字/王曉華)

 

 

 

Elsewhere

 

Elsewhere is not merely just a joint work between two young artists, Huang Zan Lun and Wang Hsiao Hua, but also a site-specific installation that artists created especially for a certain place. Huang and Wang take the exhibition location into account while planning and creating this work, that is, Elsewhere is created (not re-created) to exist only once locally in each exhibition location.

 

With the on-site assembly components consist of old window frames, electronic navigation charts, sea salts, fluorescent tubes and any other various component parts that artists might apply and adjust according to local conditions, Huang and Wang transformed the current site towards a unique combination which comprises the imagination and diversity of the possible third place.

 

Therefore, Elsewhere is more about the practice of the never-ending process of being of in-betweenness which is not meant as a revelation in the sense of rendering visible something that was previously unseen, but as the opening of our vision to the greater and fuller span of the generative forces of our everyday life.
